citysleep:

Of course NBC is planning a Dwight-centric spinoff of The Office.

tvhangover:

Something about his beet farm and his odd family. Good for him, I guess? I like Rainn Wilson but I think Dwight was the first character on The Office to go from being funny to unbearably obnoxious — though there are many that are trying to catch up. I may not enjoy The Office as much as I used to but I still don’t think it’s a bad show. I just feel like I’m only watching it to be polite. But anyway, here are a list of characters whose spinoffs I would enjoy more than Dwight’s:

  • Creed.
  • Stanley’s attempt to make it to the National Crossword Tournament.
  • Meredith in a soul-crushing drama about her realization of being an alcoholic and her attempts to clean up her life (maybe a crossover episode with Enlightened?)
  • Kelly and Ryan being Kelly and Ryan.
  • Pam and Jim’s children in high school where they are both juvenile delinquents and terrible people as a result of rebelling against their overly adorable and nauseating parents.
  • Whatever character Evan Peters played because I just want him to star in a television show that isn’t as uneven as American Horror Story.
  • The documentarians in a flashback show about their lives in film school back when they were wide-eyed and idealistic, when they wanted to make great independent movies that said something about the world, and when they didn’t think they’d spend almost a decade filming a paper company.

I NEED a show devoted to Creed. I have Creed Need.

I will maintain until my very last second on this planet that Creed is one of the only perfectly used characters on television. I think Donna from Parks & Rec is the female equivalent. Every sentence, every look, every gag that both those characters have is timed perfectly. They’re the TV character equivalent of editing a piece of writing until you absolutely could NOT remove one more word without getting your point across in a way that is both economical/true to your voice. For Donna and Creed, you can’t further edit their bits without removing that scene entirely, which to me says: this character is perfectly used.

Blah blah blahhhh this may not have made sense. I’m minorly delirious at the moment.
